Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Mobile Alumnae Chapter Hosts Successful Red Carpet Signature Event

More than 400 guests attended the Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Inc.’s Arts and Letters Committee Red Carpet event showcasing the movie premier of Annie, which was held on Friday, Dec. 19 at the Carmike Cinema Wynnsong Theater in Mobile, Ala.

There were two viewings with sold out tickets of the movie “Annie” starring Quavenzhane’ Wallis, the first African-American actor to play Annie. She is also the first child actor to earn an Oscar nomination.

Special Celebrity Guest Lynn L. Mackie walked the red carpet and greeted both audiences prior to the start of the movie. Mackie, a native of Mobile, is a professional opera singer who has performed in front of audiences in the United States and in Europe.

“Annie” Look-Alike Contests were held and the first winner was Kai Bella and the second winner was Katelyn Childs. The Mobile Alumnae Chapter of DST is grateful to the community for supporting and making this a successful event.
