 Delta Sigma Theta: A Sisterhood Called to Serve

elta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 by 22 collegiate women on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. These students promoted academic excellence while providing leadership and support to the community. Their first public act as a sorority was the Women’s Suffrage March of 1913 in Washington, D.C. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was incorporated in 1930.

The original artwork is a life-sized painting on canvas created by artist Tarleton Blackwell. The original hangs in the National Headquarters Office in Washington, D.C.
